Pier #11 - Staten Island, N.Y. Sunny & Cold
Landed here are 10:15 am.m. this morning. Sandy and I much subdued but in one piece -
The skipper granted everyone shore leave from 3 p.m. until 10 a.m. in the morning -
So after wearing Sandy down playing ball in the children's play room, we took off for Stapleton, on Staten Island; it's a small town, completely dull but we got Sandy a holster and some balls for his little Xmas tree Goggie & Gampie gave us - Then back to the ship.
Sandy was in bed at 7 p.m. and Sam & I went up on deck to play Canasta 'til our eyes dropped out, at 11:15 p.m. Called Gampie from N.Y - was he surprised!
